Baby Update

Well, as of todays blood test, Ariana's Jaundice is slowly going down. This is great news because since birth its been slowly going up and up.
If you care for numbers, the level of a certian chemicle in her blood that causes Jaundice was 150 24 hours after birth. This is cause for alarm so they put her under Phototherepy. This is where they slap a pair of shades on your baby and put her under a tanning light...kididng its a UV light but it looks like a tanning booth.
Ariana was under that light naked for two days (quite warm mind you) and the Jaundice still got worse. only a little, but still it didn't get BETTER.
But after the second day they let us take her home. We were told what to do, basicly feed her like crazy and encourage breast feeding. We did that, and 48 hours later another blood test showed a Jaundice level of 293! Well they told us it would sky-rocket after comming off the treatment but this was insane. Just a little to high. 275 is considered ok, and 293 a little high. So 24 hours later another blood test was given, this was done today. The level measured 253, and her weight, up to 8.8 from 8.3. So she is gaining weight, and the Jaundice is slowly going away.
Things here are going as smooth as can be expected. Lack of sleep takes its toll at times but we just have to remember who the care giver is and who the infant is :)
Ariana is breastfeeding well, and we can almost stop the forumla supliment. Which is great!
She has a checkup with our family DR tommorow but other than that it looks like she is in the clear.
she passed her hearing test today.
